The Savannah Bananas were part of the Coastal Plain League, a summer collegiate league, for seven seasons. In 2022, the Bananas announced that they were leaving the Coastal Plain League to play Banana Ball year-round. It was a play that looked like something you would see at a Savannah Bananas game. During a game between the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night Toronto outfielder Daulton Varsho was chasing down a fly ball when he lost his footing, slipped, tumbled, and ended up making an amazing behind the back catch to get the out. Some are even call it “The Best Catch Ever” you decide.
